You might’ve thought that it was just snow but those little white flakes are bringing LOVE to Cadair View Lodge.
Already this year (and it’s only 5th January) we’ve had one successful proposal – a surprise one! The romance of the fireworks, the moon, the stars, the snow covered mountains (but hopefully not too much champagne) fired one of our guests to get down on one knee to propose to the one that he loved. Congratulations to them!
In December another brave gentleman proposed to his girlfriend at he top of Arenig Fawr at sunrise on a very frosty morning! It was how she’d always dreamt that it’d be and so it was extra special. Congratulations to them too.
Also, we’ve had 4 enquiries about honeymoons for later this year. And, we’ve had bookings from two couples who spent their honeymoons with us last year and are coming back to celebrate their first wedding anniversaries.
For those of you who are romantically inclined (or who just want a dirty weekend) Cadair View Lodge can provide the perfect location for a romantic break in Wales. We cater for either weekend romantic breaks or midweek romantic breaks. Most of the year we can cater for stays from just a single night upwards and, again for most of the year, we have a reduced couples’ price which acknowledges that a cabin which usually accommodates up to 6 people is being occupied by just 2 people.
We offer all of the extra things that the big hotel chains offer – champagne, chocolates, fruit baskets, flowers and even have a “rose petal strewn bed” option. Our standard Romance Package costs just £40 for a couple and includes bedding (with your bed made up on arrival), towels, teatowels, sparkling wine and a box of chocolates. We are always willing to price up any other suggestions that you may have too. The rose petal strewn bed was originally a suggestion from a guest.
The favoured cabins for couples are Nutshell and Ty Coed (both had fabulous views which you can get a flavour of on the website), Sunset View (panoramic views) and Pine Tree Lodge (has a “tucked away” feeling though there are other cabins around it). Lots of the cabins now have fairy lights on their veranda which make a romantic light for sitting out in the evening.
We’ve hosted 3 wedding parties now too. Although it’s not possible to get married on site one couple went into the mountains, with their guests, to exchange vows (they’d already had a very private civil ceremony). They had a wonderful time even though the weather wasn’t good (yes it was August). Wedding dresses and wellies! They loved every minute of it. They had their reception at The Rhiw Goch Inn which is on site. In December, on the first snowy weekend, we had quite a few guests stay with us who were attending a wedding in Dolgellau. That couple had returned from Australia to get married. I think one of the couple was local.
There are more and more unusual places to get married in Snowdonia now. For railway enthusiasts it is possible to get married at a station on the Talyllyn Railway. Or for something very spectacular how about being married beside an underground lake at Llechwed Slate Caverns?
Of course we are now heading into the season of LOVE with St Dwynwen’s (Welsh patron saint of lovers) Day on 25th January and St Valentine’s Day on 14th February. As Valentine’s Day is on a Sunday this year we’ve decided to give all of the romantic couples staying with us for that weekend a lie in on the Sunday morning and will allow later checkouts (usually 10.30am). For those looking for somewhere to go for a special meal have a look at the suggestions on our website http://www.cadairviewlodge.co.uk/places_to_eat.htm We’re always happy to help with suggestions for places to go, places to propose and special things to try together.
If any of this has lit a spark of passion in you and you’d like to bring your loved one then drop us an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) with your dates and we’ll do our best to arrange something really special for you.
