Tales from a self catering holiday provider

24 Hours… and counting!

If it hasn’t happened already, chances are that your children will break up for their Summer holidays within the next 24 hours.  Have you planned what you and your family are doing for the Summer?  No?  Of course I’m now going to tell you that you ought to consider the delights of Snowdonia.  But don’t click off my blog yet.

We are a great location for a family break, whether it be just a couple of days or a full week or longer.  There’s lots to do and see in the area and it doesn’t have to cost lots of money.

We have activities for the older, braver sorts.

Guests staying with us get 20% discount at GoApe at Coed y Brenin and 10% discount at Canolfan Tryweryn National White Water Centre.  Both of which are suitable for guests from 10 upwards.  Lots of our guests also enjoy Go Below Underground Adventures billed as Snowdonia’s Ultimate Adventure.  And the one that’s had lots of media hype this Year ZipWorld    The longest, highest, fastest… zip line in Europe or the Northern Hemisphere depending on which press release you read.  As ridden by Blue Peter, The One Show and people up to the age of 94 (so far).

Then there are activities for younger, more creative sorts.

Family activities at Coed y Brenin, just 2 miles from us include den building, mini beast safaris and art activities.  Full days out at Greenwood Forest Park or at Gypsy Wood – both about an hours drive from Cadair View Lodge.

There are beaches to visit.  We have 4 Blue Flag Beaches within 30 minutes drive of Cadair View Lodge.  There are steam trains to ride, castles to visit and underground mines to explore.

We have things for the family to enjoy together

The area is, of course, well known for its walking.  “What!” I hear you cry.  “My children won’t walk anywhere”.  Maybe if they had an MP3 trail to follow on their iPhone they might.  There are some in Coed y Brenin, you can hire an MP3 player there too and there are some others on the walking page on our website.  How about walking through a forest with a llama in tow?  Or turn the walk into a treasure trail with geocaching – also available in Coed y Brenin.  It’s possible to book a GPS receiver to use from Coed y Brenin Visitor Centre.

Does your family love animals?  We love animals too and have pet friendly log cabins for hire.  See what our doggy ambassador Whiskey, has to say about us.  Locally we have the Glaslyn Osprey Centre and The Children’s Farm Park near to Harlech.  A little further afield there is the Anglesey Sea Zoo and Bwlch Nant yr Arian where the red kites are fed every afternoon.

And there are treats for Mum too like The Mermaid Spa in Portmeirion, Bodnant Welsh Food Centre and Cookery School and lots of places to eat lovely cake!  We are also reducing the amount of packing to be done and the amount of washing when you go home by including bed linen free of charge on all 7 night (or longer) stays.  We also supply our famous Welcome Basket of bread, milk, butter, biscuits, tea, coffee and household essentials.

But I hear you cry “What about the wet days?  It always rains in Wales!“.  We’ve got ideas for rainy days too.

Your stay needn’t cost the earth… check out our things to do for free ideas and ways of saving money during your stay.  And, of course, there’s always our Late Deals and Special Offers page.  This changes constantly so keep checking back or Contact Us with your requirements and we’ll give you a quote for the stay that you want.

I’m sure that I’ve missed loads of information and suggestions out.  If you have any questions please give me a call or email me.

Hope to see you in Snowdonia THIS SUMMER!
